The hot rolled tie rod delivers 26.7% higher ultimate load capacity than the cold rolled version.

Why the difference matters:
Hot rolled tie rods are manufactured from high-strength low-alloy steel through high-temperature hot rolling. This process provides superior toughness, fatigue resistance, and anti-burst performance – essential for heavy-load applications such as large formwork systems, bridge engineering, and deep foundations.

In contrast, cold rolled tie rods made of ordinary 45# carbon steel show a higher risk of brittle fracture under high tension. They are suitable only for light-duty residential construction or basic formwork fixing.

Engineering recommendation:

Heavy-duty construction, high-formwork, infrastructure: Choose hot rolled tie rods for safety and reusability.

Light-load, temporary or residential projects: Cold rolled tie rods may be considered on a cost basis.
